Children and Young People Acute Deterioration Management (CYPADM)

Scottish Government colleagues have asked us to help produce new patient information. This is to help families and carers decide in advance, and with the support of the healthcare team, what should be done if their child’s health deteriorates suddenly.

The information we are developing is based on a factsheet for parents developed by SCYPPEx (Scottish Children and Young People’s Palliative Care Executive) clinicians.

We commissioned Carole Millar Research to user-test the draft factsheet with health professionals, voluntary organisations and families who have been directly affected by this. We will consider the findings from this study and finalise the factsheet for approval by Scottish Government colleagues. The factsheet will be checked for legal accuracy and evaluated by the Plain Language Commission before it is published on 1 October.
